Play Day

At yesterday's RLGA meeting, we made a few decisions regarding the play days.

1. To qualify for the weekly game, you must play between Tuesday and Sunday of the week the game is assigned.

2. Beginning the first week in May (this week), we will have a net and a gross winner each week. More weekly winners, but still only one monthly winner.

3. When playing play day games, we will play the ball as it lies and "gimmes" are putts of 18 inches or less. Many of us have marked our putter shaft to assist with this.

4. We are asking all players to please keep their index current by posting all scores in a timely fashion. Preferably within a day or two of day of play.

In talking to several of you this week, I have discovered there is some confusion about what number to use for taking your half (or whole) handicap for our play day games. So to keep it as simple as possible, we have decided to just use your GHIN index as your "handicap". Hopefully all of you have a GHIN account that gives you an updated index every two weeks. The index often is a decimal number. Just take half of that number to use as your handicap (or if we ever have a game using all 18 holes then use the whole number). For example my GHIN index is a 16.1, so I would subtract 8.05 from my score for nine holes or 16.1 for eighteen holes. Please help me with checking the scores by writing your index on your card. The decimals will probably eliminate a lot of ties! That's a good thing!

Please continue to put your GHIN index on the card near your name. It helps me in checking the cards!

CONGRATULATIONS to the play day weekly winners!
