River Oaks Neighborhood Association Board Meeting

Thursday August 2, 2007

6:30 PM @ Boston Properties (303 Almaden)

Present: Jean, Mike, Laura, Erik, Jim, Jurgen

The Board met with representatives from Boston Properties to discuss plans for the Lockheed site south of Irvine/SONY. BP has plans to add a six and an eight story office building to the site, along with two parking garages. At some point they may also scrape the older Lockheed buildings so that they match the new buildings. Construction is likely to begin by late 2008 or early 2009 and may continue until 2011. BP plans to open Henry Ford II Drive as a public street. RONA agreed to support BP plans not to build a sidewalk on Montague. River Oaks residents expressed concerns about traffic. BP agreed that the following traffic-mitigation concepts are worth investigating: (1) a right turn only from Henry Ford Drive onto Research Place and (2) if drastic measures are required, the closure of Village Center Drive at Research Place. After the meeting Board members discussed supporting BP in a request that the Research/Montague intersection allow for protected left turns.
