River Oaks Neighborhood Association Board Meeting

Thursday April 2, 2009

7:00 PM @ Premier Pizza, River Oaks

Present: Jean, Laura, Mike

• Agnews is officially closed. We need to make an effort to remind our politicians that the future of NSJ requires us to use the Agnews land wisely for the community. We need to have a letter drafted to remind CM Chu and Mayor Reed that NSJTF identified Agnews property as a high-priority site for a school, as well as their multi-purpose room being available immediately for a community center. Also we hope to ask yahoogroup to email their representatives (will provide a form letter for inspiration).

• Elections: online ballots are available through next week. Paper ballots available at this meeting.

• "Neighbors in the Chambers" training for community activists in the world of city politics, Saturday April 18th 10-noon. Jean planning on attending.

• NSJTF review of Urban Design Guidelines pushed back to the 23rd. Website and membership already updated with the change. Jean and Mike planning to attend. Will post the preview documents as soon as we receive them.

• Cadence/Essex update: The owner plans to lease the front buildings for at least a year and start demolition reasonably soon on the back buildings.

• The company that owns the property between Guadalupe River and Hynix along Montague Expressway has folded. Those units have been approved for Phase 1 but will most likely be picked up by another developer or go back in the pool for re-allocation.
