River Oaks Neighborhood Association Board Meeting
Thursday April 17, 2008
6:30 PM @ Premier Pizza, River Oaks
Meeting with Veronica Kortright to discuss traffic situation on ROP
Crosswalk across River Oaks Parkway (ROP) between Seely and Research in order to access the creek trail:
Conduct crosswalk study at Millbrook/ROP during noon time when there is high ped activity
Install protected left turn signal at ROP/Zanker:
Forward to Signal Design and DOT Planning/Development
The loop in the left turn pockets on the north leg is not sensing vehicles - forward to Signal Operations
Motorists from Cisco Wy make right turn and then U-turn around the median island to get back on eastbound ROP:
Residents supportive of traffic signal - forward to DOT Planning/Development
Request TEU enforcement
TEU website/link: https://www.sjpd.org/_forms/TEU_Request_Form.asp
All way stop study at ROP/Research Pl. Motorists are not yielding to pedestrians at the crosswalk. Textured crosswalks at this intersection are hard to see:
Conduct all way stop study
Request TEU enforcement at intersection
Field check for crosswalk visibility
Close off Seely at ROP, eliminate cut-through traffic. This would also improve the traffic-spacing in morning/evening commute, currently the Seely stop sign spaces out cars on ROP just enough to make crossing or entering the traffic flow difficult:
Residents did not want to close Seely but are more concerned with not being able to get out of their driveways in the morning because of the constant flow of traffic from the all way stop at Seely/ROP
Residents are concerned that with future developments in the area, traffic will increase and it would be even harder for them to exit their driveways - forward to DOT Planning/Development
Residents are concern with motorists not yielding to pedestrians at this all way stop controlled intersection - request TEU enforcement
Install audible pedestrian signal and other disabled person improvement around the area:
Forward to Signal Operations request for audible pedestrian signal at ROP/Zanker
RONA to give locations of where wheel chair ramps are missing
RONA is concern that when streets are resurfaced, the elevation of the street increases making it difficult for wheel chair users to cross the street (the resident mentioned Downtown as example) - forward to Pavement Engineering
Install permanent speed radar display sign:
Existing signs are installed at school locations through a grant
RONA wanted to know if developers can fund and install these devices on ROP because of the future developments coming into the neighborhood - forward to DOT Planning/Development
Request DOT contacts:
See attachment: Contacts
Additionally:
ITS/Signal Operations - Joel Roque 975-3225
Signal Design - Amy Olay 975-3283
Local Planning/Development - Zahir Gulzadah 975-3257
Pavement Engineering - Amanda Lei 277-5516
Commercial trucks park on Village Center Dr at ROP:
DOT to investigate
Construction trucks going through the neighborhood instead of arterials:
Forward to Public Works
Sign on Montague Expressway regarding improvements that are already completed:
Darren to contact County for removal
