River Oaks Neighborhood Association Board Meeting

7:00 PM @ Premier Pizza, River Oaks

Present: Jean, Mike, Laura

• • Discussion on what RONA's response to the Walmart EIR should be:

    • • RONA Board does not have a sufficient understanding of the community's opinion on the Walmart expansion.

      • Since Walmart is in Milpitas, we do not have direct political pressure that we can bring to bear on the issue.

      • The Milpitas planning commission meeting is going to be 24th of March, 7:00pm, Milpitas city hall.

      • RONA Board has decided that RONA itself will not take a stand on this issue. Board members who are planning to speak out at the meeting will be doing so as individuals, not as representatives of RONA.

      • However, we will attempt to get as much information out to our community as we can, so community members can also make their opinion known at the meeting. We will continue to post Erik's letters on the website. We will also put up flyers in our community 1 week before the meeting so that people can plan to attend.

  • Elections: work them the same way as last year. Additional nominations will be due by March 31st. Web voting will go live April 1st. In-person voting will occur at the April 7th meeting. Laura will be sending out call for nominations by March 7th.

  • Development update: Nothing is happening, everything is quiet. However, there have been some unpleasant rumors that the Redevelopment Agency might try to borrow money from the PDO (Park Dedication Ordinance) budget. Jean will try to find out if there's anything behind this rumor.
