HOW FENGSHUI IS DIFFERENT FROM VASTUFengshui is basically a popular interior design system from China that is literally translated as "wind and water. Vastu and feng shui are two different ways to see and organize spaces and energy. We see that Vastu is both spiritually and scientifically based and universally applicable. Vastu is more deep in its effects than Fengshui. They both have great divergences regarding the map of a house or a space. Vastu works with the subtle laws of nature that govern creation. As different from Fengshui, Vastu also aligns buildings with universal energies: the five elements, beneficial earth energies, and cosmic forces.According to vastu, there are general guidelines which must be always used to every house or space, telling one same position for the different rooms and objects within it. It never differs with each passing year. While for feng shui this aspects depend on the house orientation and the elements and objects can be distributed according to where the rooms are without needing to design them always in one same way, but due to the changing postion of stars every year few things change. You have to see which the best direction for that particular year is and which the bad one is. Besides these few basic things there are many more things that change every year in fengshui whereas in Vastu it remains static and is based on Vastupurush. We see that both are different sciences and to get best results we must use both if necessary. For example a place where we cannot demolish a structure but it has vastudosh then we must use fengshui remedies which are very helpful. So both sciences have their own importance and both could be used together to get remarkable results as both aims in balancing the energies of the house. Fengshui is the mystic Chinese art based on Tao principles. It creates balance and harmony in our personal environment. Our source of divine energy is earth and heaven. Feng shui is the Chinese wisdom to understand universal energy and its effects. Its use enrich us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It creates a balance of energies. Harmonious environment energy helps to bring out our best and fulfill our desires and dreams.Feng shui means wind and water. Feng shui creates a balance between wind and water. Wind when flows in a moderate manner, it is peaceful and beneficial. Water, which is clean and pure satisfies our needs and it is beneficial. The water is regarded as wealth in Feng shui. Most people relate Feng shui with Indian vastu only and are not aware of its astrological part. There are twelve animals of Chinese Zodiac viz. Rat, ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Boar. Each corresponds a direction in the compass.WHAT IS CHIChi plays an important role in everyone's life. Chi is a Chinese term. Though it really has no meaning as such but it is related to energy. It is the power of atmosphere. CHI is the term for the universal energy. Chi is mingled with life and death. Chi is of two types - live chi and dead chi. The live Chi is peaceful, while dead Chi is harmful. Live Chi brings good luck, peaceful and provides power, whereas dead Chi brings bad luck and suppresses the chances of our success. Both type of Chi are present in the atmosphere.Chi enters our house through doors but goes out through other outlets and windows. A Chi when it enters the house remains there and does not go out though the same door. A house which has only one entrance then the Chi enters the house but does not go out through that door As a result bad Chi remains in the the house. Bad Chi also remains in the house where there are more then one doors in a straight house. If a house has more than one doors, depending on their position, it is much possible that live Chi exists in such houses and this is good for peace and is very much beneficial.WHAT IS LO-SHU & ITS IMPORTANCEABOUT LO-SHU IN FENG-SHUI- The discovery of the Lo shu miracle square dates back to 5000 years in China. Fengshui is not connected to any religion or caste. Though its origin has been in China. Feng shui means wind and water. It is a balance of these two things that brings harmony in home. According to Feng-shui each direction belongs to an element and has a number, which is based on - 'Lo Shu'. Long ago a Chinese Emperor and his men were busy doing work connected with irrigation at the bank of yellow river, when suddenly a huge turtle came out of the river crawling up on the scene slowly. The King went near it. To his great surprise he found that on the back of the turtle was depicted a square with some figures on it. When counted vertically, horizontally or crossword the sum came to be 15. Thereafter Lo Shu, became china's miracle square. Thus Feng-shui is based on this Lo Shu grid, each representing a number and direction.WHY FENG SHUIAs we all know that modern scientific theory says that, everything is made up of energy, which is constantly in motion. So is Fengshui. It is an art as well as science of placing the things by understanding the direction of flow of this energy in the space where we live and work. While doing so, it can help us to overcome the negative or stuck energy. The aim of Feng shui is to bring maximum harmony with the nature. When this is achieved, it gives good health, financial prosperity and happiness to those residing inside that house/ flat/ apartment / offices etc. In Fengshui only energy is shifted in order to achieve the things mentioned above and bring balance in the environment.BAD EFFECTS OF POISON ARROWMany times it happens that things start going wrong in your house and you are not able to understand why all of a sudden all this is happening though your house maybe as per fengshui or vastu. There are certain features in your external environment that can adversely effect the Feng Shui of your house or building. These are called "poison arrows" which may be responsible for ill-fortune which can be in the form of robbery, legal entanglement or serious ailment etc. It is, therefore, necessary to identify the not so obvious poison arrows in your environment and deal with them. The poison arrow pointing at your main door could be a straight long road forming a T- junction. This brings dangerous chi into your house. Other locations where chi is too strong, are houses on the dead end of a street or those on curved roads. The harmful effect of hitting chi can be neutralized by means of Feng Shui cures. The 'poison arrow' coming from a westerly direction can be set right by placing a spotlight above the door pointing towards the road. Whereas the cure for a south road is to place a large boulder between the door and the road. An electric pole or a large single tree outside your main gate also acts as a 'poison arrow'.Flyovers and bridges with fast moving traffic can also generate negative energy around your house. Trouble can come in the form of a new building in your neighborhood also.So there can be many reasons and all this has to be analyzed properly and then remedies are done accordingly.FIVE ELEMENTS IN FENGSHUIJust like in India, in Vastu, we have five basic elements air, fire, earth, water and space in the same manner,in China, in fengshui there are five basic elements viz. water, wood, fire, earth and metal. They consider these basic elements of nature as basic energies. This is one of the major difference in vastu and fengshui. With these five elements specific colors and directions are associated. As per their mutual reactions, these elements can be in destructive or constructive order. If the arrangement is in constructive form then it will be beneficial. But if it is in destructive form then it will be harmful and destructive. Therefore, a proper balance should be maintained, so that energies flow in positive direction bringing in harmony. Fengshui suggests that we must analyze the flow of energy and decorate the place in such a manner so that a balance of these five elements is maintained.
