Ritmos Summer Workshop & Fiesta with Steven Messina

Ritmos Latinos presents a day of Cuban dance workshops, followed by the Summer Fiesta!  We are excited to welcome guest instructor Steven Messina who's going to share his passion for music and dance with us.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Steven Messina is a North Carolina-based educator of Cuban dance traditions. After being captivated by the living Cuban culture he encountered in South Florida, he relocated to North Carolina in 2010 with a mission to foster authentic Cuban dance appreciation across the state. The 2020 lockdowns brought a turning point where Messina Dance YouTube channel connected him with students across the U.S. and around the world, leading to a full suite of online courses that have brought his detail-oriented approach to dancers near and far, filling in the missing links that make even the most challenging Cuban dances finally click.

WORKSHOP

Workshops are open to dancers who learned the basics of casino (guapea, dile que no, enchufe, vacilala, p'abajo, exhibela)

FIESTA  

Location: Georgian Room, IMU

8:30 pm - Absolute Beginner lesson

Bring your friends who don't know how to dance yet, and show them what it is all about :)

9 pm - 12 am - dance the night away!

Dress to impress and get ready to party! The best timba, son, salsa, bachata and more!

The fiesta and absolute beginner lesson are free and open to public!
