Back in 1994 STMicroelectronics offered me a job in the Non-Volatile Memories (NVM) area. To be honest, at that time I didn't know much about NVM, but I thought that it was a great start for my career. I clearly remember when I told my wife "I'll work in this field for a couple of years and then move on to something different"...30 years and several positions later, I am still in the same business. Yes, you are right, it was SLC NOR without ECC, and now it is 3D NAND QLC (possibly, PLC) with very complex ECCs and Flash signal processing, but we are still counting electrons, hoping that they don't leak away...
