Clock AA

For Sale: Clock AA. $259

1980 Arrow Ball Clock. Original Unassembled Kit. Rebuilt Motor. Polished. Video! All Parts Inventoried. Ready for you to Build and Enjoy.

This clock is better than a brand new, still factory sealed clock because:

* I serviced the motor and installed a set of my brand new gears in it (see below).

* I hand polished the clear dust cover to brilliant optical clarity.

* You still get to have the fun of assembling it: And will have a motor that works when you plug it in (see below).

This is my listing: Clock "AA."

All of the Arrow Ball Clocks came as unassembled kits. The original buyer enjoyed the fun of assembling it. The assembly is a simple snap-fit. No glue is used. You can see a full set of the instructions on this website.

These came wrapped and sealed in clear cellophane. That has been removed. Most of the black parts came formed as part of a molded parts-tree. Those parts have been removed from the original tree. That is all that the original owner did on this clock. It has never been assembled. It has never been used.

I have inventoried all the parts and every original part is present. You can see all the parts in my photos.

A note about the motor: There is one gear inside the motor of all of these clocks that has disintegrated over time. The type of material it was made from in 1980 breaks down with age. It weakens and simply falls apart: Whether it was used or not. All of those original gears will fail when you plug the clock in, and the motor will not work.

So, even if you buy a brand new, never used, factory sealed clock: It will not work until you replace that bad gear. I know this from experience because I bought a factory sealed clock a while back and it happened to me (also).

However, in this clock: I opened the motor and replaced that faulty gear set with brand new gears; made from updated, modern materials. I also removed all the old, gummy oil, and lubricated it with fresh oil. Then, I ran and tested the motor for a few days. This motor works like new with those brand new gears, and will continue to do so for a long, long time.

A General Note about these clocks: Please know that these clocks were produced as inexpensive novelty clocks. They were not manufactured to be show quality collectibles. All of the dust covers have minor imperfections from the original molding process.

Most people that sell things don’t want you to know about any flaws or imperfections. I do! I want you to know exactly what you are purchasing before you buy it. If there is anything about my clocks that I feel you would want to know about, or any significant scuffs or scratches in the dust cover (that are large enough to mention), I will tell you about them in this listing. I include high resolution photos and video. You can zoom-in and look at each section of the clock in great detail. If you don’t see any imperfections in the photos or video: You probably won’t see them as you enjoy your clock.

You can see videos of some of the more recent clocks I’ve refurbished on my YouTube channel.

This is a Black version of the clock.

It includes its original Box, which is in fantastic condition. The date stamp on the bottom reads SEP 12, 1980. There is some clear tape on both of the end flaps and bottom from where someone had taped the box closed at some point.

It includes its original Instructions, dated SEP 11, 1980, its original small Pamphlet, and the clear bag that the dust cover originally came in.

It includes its original balls. Most of the original Arrow balls were somewhat dull, or had some imperfections. So, I included a full set of my Brand New Replacement Balls. You can use whichever ones you want.

The clear dust cover came inside its original protective bag. Even inside the protective bag: It had a few smudges, and had dulled a bit. I knew I could bring it to a brilliant shine – so I did. I lightly hand polished it and, it is absolutely gorgeous! It is impressively clear and highly reflective! I shot the video of it so you can see just how clear and reflective it is. There are no chips or cracks in it. All of these covers were molded with a few minor imperfections in them. That is simply how they came. This one has some of those. If you don’t see them in my photos or video – You won’t see them while you’re enjoying your clock.

Considering how short a period of time these clocks were made: There are quite a few variations of the Arrow Ball Clock. One of the things I like about this version is that the dust cover goes all the way to the ground (some others sit "on top" of the base). With the dust cover going all the way to the ground: It quiets down the noise made from the balls rolling and dropping more so than the other cover. It is a much, much quieter clock. And, if you place the clock on a surface such as a cloth dinner placemat, it will make it even quieter.

This version of the dust cover is also slightly wider; which means you will find yourself bumping it against the tower structure much less often when you put it on or take it off. That means you are much less likely to put any scuffs or scratches in the dust cover as you use it.

A Simple Note: This Arrow Ball Clock will run a lot quieter than any of the Time Machine Ball Clocks.

This clock was in a non-smoking home.

I will carefully package everything to protect the box, clock, and the dust cover.
