Coaches Responsibilities
WEATHER POLICY & COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES
1. If Providence schools close ➔ meets are cancelled for that day and will be rescheduled – if possible.
2. If your school cancels activities or transportation due to weather ➔ an alternate date will be provided – if possible.
3. If both your school and your opponent’s school cancel activities or transportation due to weather➔ your meet will be rescheduled – if possible.
4. If your school is in session, but your opponent’s school cancels activities or transportation due to weather ➔ you still have a meet, and no alternate date will be provided.
If inclement weather causes schools closings and that meet would possible determine the RIIL Champion, I will try and adjust the meet schedule for those teams to have a scored dual meet. If this cannot be done, the team with the better record will be the RIIL Champion.
No school will be penalized with a loss if your school does not allow a team to participate due to inclement weather. This means that you may not face every team in your division. If no alternative date can be offered, and if there is a strong desire for those teams to still compete, feel free to contact the PCTA to arrange a time and date, any performances at these meets will not count toward future meet qualification. And all costs incurred will be taken on by the schools, and there will be no financial support from the RIIL.
I will send out an email to the schools participating on a day that Providence school close as soon as I receive that information. If your school cancels, please contact me immediately as to your team’s availability for that night. If there is a significant number of a team that cannot compete in a session, I will cancel that meet.
All communications from me to you, vice versa, must be done by noon or upon immediate knowledge of cancellation.
