Bazi or "Four Pillars of Destiny"
Bazi,"Eight Characters" or "Four Pillars of Destiny" is one form of professional analysis of the Chinese Astrology. It derives from the text of I-Ching. The development of Bazi was attributed to Scholar Li Xuzhong of the Tang dynasty and practised by Yu Zi Pung in the Song dynasty. Bazi has been consistently used for thousand of years till to-date through the winding course of civilization.
Bazi or "Eight Characters" analyses a person’s destiny from his or her year, month, day and hour of birth. Each of the four entities is known as “pillar”. As each pillar is represented by two Chinese characters, “Four Pillars” or “Eight Characters” are formed. The first Chinese character of each pillar is the “Heavenly Stem” which is the Yang (positive) or Yin (negative) versions of the five elements – wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The second character of each pillar is the “Earthly Branch”. The Earthly Branches represent the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac – Rat, Ox, Tiger, Snake, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig.

Love or marriage, studies, health or career are reflected in the Bazi as well. The person can use understanding of the Bazi to minimize pitfalls and improve on the strengths.
