About Us


The Rio Grande Valley Science Association of Texas is a group of science educators dedicated to supporting and improving science instruction in the Rio Grande Valley and throughout Texas. The organization is composed mainly of PreK-12 teachers, science specialists, University Professors, and science community members and has over 32 years of community focus. The RGVSA Board is charged with organizing the annual conference, publishing a periodic newsletter, supporting science education events, and over-seeing the Science enrichment in the RGV area.

The Rio Grande Valley Science Association of Texas has sponsored an annual conference for thirty years. This conference has grown and now impacts several hundred teachers each year. Workshops by science teachers, and other science educators are offered and we feature a Keynote speaker for teachers. Science teachers are encouraged to present effective science teaching methods, activities and strategies. Please check our Conference page to for more information.

Current science news, activities, and other information are available on this website and in our newsletter. Members will receive the latest valley science information either from our website, blog, or newsletter. Rio Grande Valley teachers are encouraged to submit science articles for publication. Please visit the News section of the website to find out more about our newsletter.

Members of the RGVSA board are welcomed and voted on by the RGVSA board members. Any RGVSA association member wishing to serve on the board is encouraged to contact Susana Ramirez at the following email.

The Rio Grande Valley Science Association is a State Board of Education and the Texas Education Agency approved and registered provider of Continued Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours.

RGVSA has been an affiliate of the National Science Teaching Association since February 2011.
