Revotronics was founded in 2010, the owner Ben Burger, have been involved with UHF RFID since 2004, helping to develop the first RSA EPC GEN2 UHF RFID reader module.(Gaining International EPCGlobal accreditation at the time)

ALL the products we supply are developed from the ground up. That means R&D;

For example the DIMTAG took 2 years+ to develop ( we did tests on dead cows, yes walking around with "cows ears", one in each hand, to test range and readability )

The UHF RFID readers have a development legacy since 2004, having developed many different type of readers over the years, one flows out of the other and where the needs arise we change the design.

We actively work together with the CGSA (Consumer Goods Council of South Africa) and use the GS1 standards as guidelines for all EPC numbering systems.

We have developed an EPC coding standard for the Bovine Industry of RSA (Feedlots in particular for both customized SGTIN and SGLN numbers)

We pride ourselves in delivering excellent service as well as world class products; All our RFID modules are FCC and CE approved; We then have the RFID readers certified with ICASA...

We visit all the installations at least once a month; hereby ensuring a fully functional products, doing proactive maintenance if required, we learn from these failures and then proactively change the designs,

if needed, to ensure that the failures do not occur again; we keep stock of all the devices and ship to the customers if required.

As mentioned we supply customized UHF RFID solutions; this includes Hardware, Software as well as Installations.

We only supply the best integrated UHF RFID hardware, based on well known, EPC GEN2 certified module and ICASA approved devices.

We are active in the following areas:

Feedlots:

Here we supply a FULL range of CUSTOM product; including but not limited to the following:

- Cattle Ear-tag; Also known as the DIMTAG. After 2 years of R&D we developed this UHF RFID ear-tag for insertion into the cows` ear.

The tag is a single piece design that is applied with a special knife.

- Fixed linear RFID readers; all IP65 rated for the harsh feedlot environment where the dung literally flies all over the place !

The reader are capable of read ranges in excess of 3 meters.

They are Mounted either overhead or on the side of the area where we need to read the tags

- Gantry Readers; We designed a unique RFID reader that is mounted overhead, it houses 2 or 4 internal antennas and 2 external antennas.

The crush width can be 2 to 6m wide and 3m high, the animals are chased under the gantry and the Ear-Tags are picked up.

The Gantry can be a fixed installation or a portable installation with a portable battery case and laptop all in one unit, connecting via a rugged cable to the gantry.

We can also supply WIFI and GSM connectivity if needed, whereby the customer can log in from anywhere in the world and check or update the system

or sit in the bakkie and check the system from his Phone/Tablet

- Long Range Handheld; The LRHH is unique in that it is a self-contained unit with a PDA and UHF RFID Reader all in one; it is capable of reading the Ear-Tags

at a distance of 5 to 8m. It is used to count the animals in the pens (roll-call) as well as looking up or searching for individual animals... seeing is believing in this

case.

- The lasted addition is the PROBE reader, a custom device, again developed from scratch...that is really IP67 rated, it can be dunked under water, and washed.

It is mainly used for reading the DIMTAG in difficult circumstances. Like when the animal is about to be stunned at the abattoir, the user canreach in there and

read the number more easily. The reader is a "close field" reader, and can read tags in a radius of up 3m, if set to full power. It also vibrates in ones hand if a tag

is detected, since it is usually VERY noisy at the abattoirs and feedlots and beepers stress the aninmals out bigtime

-Desktop Reader; The desktop reader is a small USB powered device, capable of programming the EPC number into the DIMTAG. This readers is used during

processing to program vital information into the DIMTAG, which is used for trace-ability purposes

Antennas:

- We have developed our own in-house UHF RFID antenna; 6dbi linear and can be tuned to either 868Mhz+-2Mhz or 917Mhz +-4Mhz;

The antenna can house electronics on the back of the antenna with a dimension of 350x250mm. The enclosure is full IP65 Rated complete with cork seal and

MIL-DTL-26482 Spec connector for connecting the electrics to the outside world

Other installations:

Revotronics installed and commissioned a UHF RFID pilot site at an international meat processing plant; working together with Matrix Software;

who also writes factory management software as well as abattoir management systems and MUCH more

Other Services:

We supply all the middle-ware through which the customers` management software can seamlessly interface to all Revotronics` RFID readers and

thus there is no need for the management software to know about EPC GEN2 or UHF RFID at all ! Simply a few "text commands" is all that is needed

to interface to the RFID readers.... yes even Hyper-terminal can be used

The BMP (Bovine Management Project) is installed at many feedlots around RSA, the oldest installation running now for nearly 7 years now

We have manufactured over 285,000 Ear-tags (distributed to the different feedlots )

There is an overwhelming interest in the product as the feedlots can see that the products WORK !

What about the future ?

Here are some project we are working on (but with not toooo much detail :)

- Cater for the small cattle farmer needs <10,000 animals (small means by NO means insignificant, if you take into account that the feedlots have an

average of 15k, 20k, 30k, 80k and some 120k+ animals).

Here we are developing and will supply:

DIMTAGS or the like; Customs software that can interface to Mobile devices of whatever sort, Phones,Tablets etc. which can then interface to our

UHF RFID readers

- Sheep farmers; we are busy with a new line of product catering for the sheep feedlots, again a UHF RFID tag + Readers and software !

- Game farmers; most of the Bovine applications can be used as is for this industry;

however we are developing new readers/systems that can be mounted on the current feeders so that the animals UHF RFID ear tags can be read and the data transmitted to a central point

Revotronics supply hardware and support to GigaLot without whom we cannot realize these huge projects !

We are also collaborating with smaller software developers who have a few clients but are willing to use our hardware

The scope is vast and the opportunities great so we are always looking for partners who are willing to walk the road with us, honest and straight-up. We are looking for those with THE Excellent Spirit !
