The key to solving problem behaviors is to describe what the learner actually does and to place that behavior in a context, not inside the learner. Behavior does not occur in a vacuum or spray out of learners haphazardly. There are always conditions on which behavior depends. Therefore, changing conditions necessarily changes behavior. This is good news because, although we do not have direct control over learners’ neural processes, we do have direct control over many of the conditions in which learners behave.
The app is to help you take the first step in developing any behavior change program. It guides you through the process of developing hypotheses about the functional relations among antecedents, behaviors and consequences – the ABCs.

First Time Use Steps:
1. Open the app and wait for the "ABC Assessment - Learners" menu to appear. (If it doesn't appear right away touch the screen once.)
2. Touch "Learners", it will change to the "Learners" list that starts empty.
3. In the upper right click on the " + " (plus sign) button to start adding a new Learner in the New Learner Details screen.
4. In Learner Name put the name of the learner, if their name is "Sammy" put that in the learner name. Also make an entry in the Species box.
5. Touch the "Done" button in the upper right; this will save the details and take you back to the learner list, which should now include your entry.
6. To further edit the learner name or species touch the Blue icon by their name. The "Done" button will save your changes and return you to the Learner List.
7. Touch the Learner name from the list to go to their Behavior List. This List is specific to each Learner entered.
8. From here, touch the " + " (plus sign) button in the upper right to begin entering details about the problem behavior.
9. Answer the questions and use the "Next" button in the upper right to continue. (You can alternatively click "Done" on the keyboard to review the complete entry before going on.)
10. Use the "Finish" and "Add Solution" to explore alternative behavior. Use the "Next" button in the upper right to continue.
11. At the end of the questions touch the "Save" button to finish the behavior entry. You will also have an opportunity to Email the behavior information using the icon in the lower right.
12. This will return you to the Behavior List for Sammy. This new Behavior and its replacement will now be shown in the list.
13. To work with a new different learner use the "< Learners" button in the top left.
