Sam Daley-Harris
RESULTS' founder and author of Reclaiming our Democracy
Sam Daley-Harris founded RESULTS in 1980 when he and a circle of concerned citizens decided the U.S. government needed to do more to end hunger and extreme poverty around the world. Since then, RESULTS' advocacy with Congress has helped direct more than $200 billion dollars toward anti-poverty efforts in the United States and globally, helping to save millions of lives.
Sam's recently released edition of Reclaiming Our Democracy: Every Citizen’s Guide to Transformational Advocacy shares the story of RESULTS and lays out a proven and replicable way to make a difference — and heal our democracy in the process. Publisher’s Weekly BookLife made it an Editor’s Pick and called it a “rousing guide to advocacy, movement-building, and enacting change in cynical times.” Kirkus Reviews wrote that the "analysis of effective action is as persuasive as it is accessible, and his call to democratic participation is inspiring." Sam has been interviewed numerous time since the book's launch, including on NPR’s Here and Now and 1A and on PBS’s Laura Flanders and Friends.
David Schubert
When David first learned about RESULTS from a perfect stranger at a 1999 social justice seminar held by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, he immediately said, “I want to be part of that effort.” He never looked back, and for 25 years he has been a pillar of the RESULTS Houston Global group. He has served as group leader, point person for Representative Kevin Brady's office, and curator of RESULTS' relationship with The Houston Chronicle. His dedication to alleviating global poverty is an inspiration to RESULTS volunteers and our community of supporters and friends.
David Schubert has been a mentor and inspiration to me and many other volunteers at RESULTS. New advocate mentors like David provide critical support to emerging advocates!
From 2024/12/16 RESULTS blog: I’m a RESULTS volunteer—will you join me in making a gift to RESULTS?
RESULTS changed my life when I was in high school. That’s when my mom introduced me to David Schubert, a dedicated 25-year volunteer from Houston. He shared the amazing work that RESULTS does to reduce the injustice of poverty in the U.S. and globally, and I was immediately interested. I started volunteering with the Houston RESULTS chapter and continued throughout college. And then I became a RESULTS fellow — boosting my ability to advocate for lifesaving solutions to poverty through RESULTS’ intensive year-long program.
These experiences have enriched my life and shown me that I can make a difference. That together, we can make a difference. And that’s why I became a RESULTS donor.
I want RESULTS to continue to thrive because so many people around the world need it to. There are millions of families who use tools like food support, medical care for diseases fueled by poverty, or maternal health care to ensure women worldwide don’t die during pregnancy or childbirth.
