TRO...Temple Research Observatory

TRO is now located in Lexington, MO.  Over the years the observatory has moved around in New Mexico and now to Missouri. The original telescope was an 8" Newtonian Astrograph on a Orion sirius mount.  Then Temple 20 was added, a 8" Meade SCT as well as an 11" Celestron CPC. Currently the Orion sirius mount sports a 4" achromatic refractor doing bright star photometry. Recently a Celestron C1100 11" SC on a heavy duty CGE Mount is being added into service.  This was the Wright 28 telescope that served in the AAVSONet. This was a robo scope that could gather data for members of the AAVSO, one of the perks of being a member. It was taken out of service in 2012 and had been stored at Lowell Observatory until December 2022. The corrector was broken on it when it was headed to storage so I obtained it with the idea of using my 11" with a bad mirror but a good corrector to replace the broken one. That process has been successful. It should see service in the spring of 2023.

TRO exists to do research. Current research includes studying the variability of the Central Stars of Planetary Nebula's and fast eclipsing binaries.
