Temple Research Observatory exists to study variable stars and other transient objects. The observatory is named for my father, John Temple, who had no interest in astronomy but always encouraged me in my pursuit of the night skies! The primary research of TRO is the Central Stars of Planetary Nebula and over-contact binary stars.
There are two main telescopes, both automated that do the bulk of the research. An Explore Scientific AR102 refractor on an Orion Sirius mount and a Celestron 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope mounted on a Celestron CGE mount. There are other telescopes and mounts that are used for special projects or just for fun. These include a Celestron 6" refractor, Celestron 4" refractor as well as Meade LXD600 and LXD-75 mounts.
