Unbelievably, over 3,200 Canadians are diagnosed each year with oral cancer - the silent killer. 

Overview

Oral cancer is a devastating disease. Without thorough knowledge in the biological nature of this disease, management of this disease can be an undertaking for both the clinicians and patients. Patients often undergo traumatic surgery and suffer increase morbidity with a detrimental impact on quality of life if not managed properly. 

Through our research initiative, we want to advance the knowledge in this disease as well as improve patient outcome.

Donations may be made directly to the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Dentistry and an income tax receipt for your contribution will be issued. The receipt may be used to claim the charitable tax credit. Various recognition opportunities within the University and Faulty are possible and can be discussed personally.

Ride to Conquer Cancer - Team Better Outcomes!!

The fight against cancer goes on. The 23-member team, Better Outcomes!!, is riding for the Ride to Conquer Cancer each year through the scenic Pacific Northwest from Vancouver to Seattle, Washington - a challenging 262-kilometer journey. 

Community dentists, Oral Medicine Specialists, Oral Pathologists, and Oncology Scientists all join together honoring cancer survivors, raise awareness and donations for research, education, prevention, advocacy, and patient care. 

Team BETTER OUTCOMES!! is a team that is dedicated to making change. We want to find a cure for oral cancer and by riding this event we are doing something about it. Please join us in this challenging and rewarding experience.

The 2015 ride is dedicated to our co-captain, Dr. Michele Williams. Michele was a proud supporter of oral cancer research and a great contributor to and leader our team. Michele lost her personal battle with cancer in January, 2015.
