Things to remember
Don't procrastinate when participating in studies. If everyone waits until the end of the semester to sign up for studies (and many will), there won't be enough time slots to meet demand and you'll end up having to complete alternative assignments to fulfill your credit. Please don't ask for extensions after having a full semester to plan. Please plan accordingly and be accountable for your behavior.
New studies are posted as they become available. You can safely expect several new studies to be posted throughout the semester, though there is no way to know exactly how many or when they will be posted. Check SonaSystems each week to see if new studies are available.
Make sure that you select your course(s) correctly and you assign your credits to your course(s). Your professor cannot change your account for you; any error is your responsibility. Check your course number and section.
Study credit is based on the duration of the study (15 minutes = .25 credits, 30 minutes = 0.5 credits, 1 hour = 1 credit).
Show up to your appointments! By signing up for an appointment, you prevent other students from signing up for that appointment; if you miss it, you make it harder for them to complete their requirement and you may be locked out of the system for missing appointments.
If you need to cancel your appointment, you can do so at least 24 hours in advance (for most studies) through Sona Systems. Click on My Schedule/Credits, scroll down to the study you need to cancel, and click Cancel. If it's too late to cancel, you can try contacting the researcher for the study in advance and let them know you can't make it. They're not obligated to cancel your appointment or excuse your failure to appear, but they might if you ask nicely.
What if I need participation credit for more than one class?
If you are simultaneously enrolled in two or more psychology classes for which you need participation credit (classes under level 100), you only need 5 credits to fulfill all of your credit requirements.
