The MINOR ARCANA, or the SUITS are the 40 cards (Ace through ten) which further represent archetypal connections between Ulysses and the tarot, and the novel's claims on time which are universal, expansive and yet quotidien in approach.
Traditionally, the suits are Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. Much of my research and training adopts the Crowley-Thoth deck's adaptations, refiguring, and renaming. Embellishing on this Golden Dawn-Yeats-influenced viewpoint, not only have I substituted "disks" for "pentacles", I have incorporated many of the meanings imparted by personal images, Feng Shui, Crowley, Yeats, Joyce, Papus, playing card, and traditional tarot.

ACE of DISKS
The Ace unifies the most important aspects of the suit and subsumes the archetype into its oneness. Therefore, 7 Eccles Street (not only the Bloom's address, but also the 1904 address of the character on whom Leopold Bloom was based: immediately interplaying between actual, fictitious, real, material, and encoded) serves well as a primary symbol for the DISKS suit.
It highlights the Joseph Campbell hero's journey aspect of the novel as the physical starting location for this deck's fool, Leopold Bloom. It represents the creature/bodily comforts without borders of time or place. It is a starting point, but one need not stop there!
Tarot-reading depends on personal connections that the reader and the querent make to the reading, the card's sequence, influences on the cards around it, and the backgrounds of each participant. Ulysses, which Robert Anton Wilson called the "one inexhaustible novel" mirrors this method. To each reader of Ulysses and the Mme Marion Bloom tarot deck, let there allow individual associations. There's the urgency of now, as well as any association one cares to make: the "at rise" in Tolkien's Hobbit, 2018 gift book shops and art gallery gift shops bet-selling Danish books on "Hygge", (mood coziness), the German concept of Gemutlichkeit refered to by Philhellenist Nietzsche in his Will to Power about one never being at home except with the Ancient Greeks one may infer from Buck Mulligan, "God, Kinch, if you and I could only work together we might do something for the island. Hellenise it." (U.1)
The material and appetite suit begins at home, but to take yet another page from Nietzsche, time in this novel is non-linear, and neither is the timescale of the tarot deck. As my 2015 notes reference Jennifer Wicke referencing Matthew McConaughey's True Detective character quoting Nietzsche, "time is a flat circle". Although the ACE of DISKS will not be the card directly linking Nietsche's "Eternal Recurrence", to Ulysses (by way of Homer's Odyssey), I'll take the opportunity to weave the time-flat circle/ home-home rule stitch.
The text of the ACE of DISKS comes from chapter 12. Davy Byrne's pub denizen's are speaking to the riches of Ireland, and the places that give the island richness.
The style is epic simile the detail of which is almost exhausting in its ekphrastics.

Notes on the art: two disks symbolizing change (wedding card with disposable rings), "protect" Aloha brand tea designed to bring to mind Joyce's spectacles. The 'ineluctable modality' represented by the film strip and film canister. Ineluctable and modal because the moving picture is pre-recorded; therefore, predetermined to the change. Mystical purple.
