Mens and Womens Spring Season 2014 Cancelled
The reason for the cancellation is the overall lack of games played:
WOMENS: MENS:
There are 26 teams signed up for the league There are 57 teams signed up for the league
Only 1 teams has played at least 3 games Only 5 teams has played at least 3 games
And more than 5 teams are reporting more than 2 forfeits due to weather Only 17 teams have even 2 games
Most teams have yet to play a game 30 teams have yet to play a game
We believe a combination of the weather and Spring Break schedules have made it very difficult for teams to get games scheduled and played. With so few teams even at 2 games adding an extra week would not be enough time for teams to get to enough games to crown a division champion. Cancelling the league also means we, as a league, will not incur any costs for the league and we will not have spent any of the league fees your teams paid.
We will be applying the $100 Spring League fee to the Fall League. If you would prefer to have a refund we can process that as well, just let me know. The Fall League fee will most likely be $100 – so you will not need to pay anything additional to participate in the fall.
This said, we strongly encourage teams to play the games they have scheduled. The main thing is to play soccer. To encourage this further we will continue to update standings on the Google website https://sites.google.com/site/region1clubsoccer Please continue to submit scores online as this will also help us in our planning for Spring 2015 SCORE REPORTING FORM
Finally – cancelling the season is definitely a last resort and something we really wanted to avoid. Organizing a Spring Soccer League in the Northeast is somewhat of a new venture and we are going to use this as a learning experience moving forward. To help provide your input and help the success of the league moving forward we have put together a brief survey to help you provide your ideas for NIRSA Region I Soccer in general and for next Spring specifically, though you can always feel free to contact me directly.
The survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JMLXTKC
We truly apologize for the inconvenience and sincere apologies for the teams that have gone to great lengths this Spring to try and make this work – we know a lot of time and effort was poured into making this season work by these teams, and hopefully the soccer played is enough to make the efforts worthwhile. If you have any questions please contact us directly.
