Carol Ann Lally (Past Secretary)
Since joining NYSATA, I have remained an active member over these years participating in regional and state workshops, conferences and professional development sessions. Becoming more involved in our region activities, in 2010 I had the honor of receiving our region's Art Educator of the Year award. I am actively involved in the planning of our region's Portfolio Adjudication Project and meeting some terrific students as I adjudicate Suffolk student portfolios. I had the opportunity to presented a workshop at the 2011 NYSATA Conference held in Westchester. I have been teaching Art in the Commack School District for the past 11 years, Kindergarten through grade 2 in two primary schools, North Ridge and Indian Hollow. I am very proud to be an involved member of LIATA/Suffolk and its region Secretary. I plan to continue to make a difference in the activities and programs our region develops for our students and for my fellow Art teachers. To quote Picasso, " Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
Zita Rosen: ( Past Vice President/Chair)
I have been an honored NYSATA member since 1980. Not one for sitting on the sidelines, I have held region level positions of Secretary and Membership coordinator. On the state level, as a member of the former Representative Council (now known as the Board of Trustees), I have been elected Secretary, appointed Membership coordinator, District/School Membership coordinator, and Archives chair, as well as a LIATA/Suffolk representative. As Archives Chair, I will always treasure conversations with NYSATA's past presidents, collecting invaluable information about the beginnings of our association in 1948, information now housed in SUNY Buffalo. During these past 32 years, I have coordinated local and state conferences and workshops; been appointed Hospitality and Registration chairs at many state conferences, and worked with Convention committees creating hotel and vendor contracts. I have presented workshops at NYSATA and NAEA conferences. In 2003, NYSATA Past President Dr. Prabha Sahasrabudhe became president of the international art association, InSEA, and I coordinated Hospitality at their NYC conference. The experience I gained during my involvement on the many levels of leadership within our association has made me a knowledgeable passionate hands-on leader. In this position I take pride in making certain that LIATA/Suffolk plans activities and programs that build our membership, thereby making more personal connections to art educators and art students. I will continue to be an active member, listener and a strong voice for visual art education in our region and our state.
Ernest G. Savaglio: ( Past President/Chair)
A member of NYSATA since the 1970's, under my terms as region President we have created numerous Saturday workshops for members and students, Art Out East mini-conferences, vendor fairs; working with professional artists in the East End of Suffolk County, I created the Artist-High School Student Art Enrichment Mentoring program. East End artists have opened their hearts and studios for small groups of 8 - 10 students for personalized lessons in their specific style and medium - watercolors, oil, pastels, sculpting, life drawing, etc. - for a day. My leadership style has always been to step back and encourage newer members to step up and take charge coordinating activities such as our very successful Portfolio Adjudication Project Program and YAM workshops, as well as the successful Subway Art Walk and the Gargoyles in Manhattan Walking Tour. We are one of the few regions with a website:www.nysata10.org. As a long time honored member of the NYSATA Board of Trustees (formerly the Representative Council), I have held positions of elected state Vice President, President Elect, President, Treasurer; appointed Business Manager working many years with hotel management on convention contracts; and recently appointed NYSATA Historian. I have enjoyed coordinating convention programs, and am especially proud of hosting workshops starring our association's past presidents. A retired Jericho UFSD administrator of Fine Arts, Home and Careers, Technology, and Business Education, I will always be an advocate of art education within our region and the state.
