Volunteers
We receive many inquiries about how to volunteer with our organization. Although there are many ways we need the help of dedicated volunteers, please be aware that opportunities to interact directly with the refugee women are very limited. Most of their crafting is done as cottage industry or at our weekly gatherings. If your primary interest is to work one-on-one with a newly arrived refugee, we recommend that you contact one of our resettlement or ESL providers in the Denver area: Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains: 303-980-5400
African Community Center: 303-399-4500
IRC: 720-328-6655
Emily Griffith Technical College Refugee ESL Program
Classroom assistant or In-home tutoring program: 720-423-4843
Studio time
Our members attend drop-in studio sessions on Wednesdays throughout the day. Meetings are held at our studio in Aurora. One-to-one instruction is a cornerstone of these meetings, so our need at these meetings is specifically for volunteers who are skilled jewelry makers. If you know how to make beaded jewelry, use tools (including crimping pliers), attach findings, plus you are incredibly patient, good at explaining with minimal language, and you would like to help with teaching on Wednesdays, please Contact us! You can also scroll down to the bottom of this page for an application, send it in, and we'll be in touch.
