Hampstead Recreation Summer Employment

OPEN POSITIONS:  2 Lifeguards 

Application Process: Please fill out the application: Application 2025 & Emergency Form (the form is located at the bottom of the page) then write a letter explaining why you would like to be a summer rec. counselor or Lifeguard. Please include any qualification, experience(s) and/or other important information you would like to share with the Recreation Commission. We will also need two a character reference.

Counselor Pay - 11.50 per hour

Lifeguard Pay - 15.00 per hour

1. All Complete Application must be received by March 12th at 4:00opm at the Town Hall - if the Application is not compete it will to be considered or moved forward to the Hampstead Recreation Commission.

2. A complete Application packet will include the following:

1. Application 2025 - at the bottom of the page

2. Emergency Form 2025 - at the bottom of the page

3. Letter explaining why you want to be a Lifeguard/Counselor?

4. Two Character References one must be from a non family member the other can be by a

family or non family members. Please make sure the person signs the letter.

3. You may drop it off at the Town Hall or mail it to: Recreation Department, 11 Main Street, Hampstead, NH 03841 by March 12, 2025 - 4:00pm.

What is a Character Reference? A character reference, also known as a personal reference, is a recommendation provided by someone who knows you and can attest to your character and abilities. This type of recommendation showcases your personality and people skills.

The process of hiring:

1. The Recreation Commission will select the candidates they would like to interview based on your application, letter and character references at the March 12, 2025 Recreation Meeting.

2. You will be contacted by the Recreation Director with an interview time or a thank you for applying.

3. March 17, 2025 meeting at 7:00pm the Recreation Commission will meet and decide who they will interview.

4. All final applicants will be notified about the job by March 19, 2025 .

5. Lifeguards must be 16 years old and have a Lifeguard certification before they start June 7, 2025

6. Counselors should be at least 15 years old. 

Work days and hours:

Summer Rec working hours for full time are 8:45am to 12:00noon then 1:00pm to 3:45pm. Part Time Counselor 8:45am to 12:00noon. They may be some extra hours depending on the field trips. Summer Rec Dates will be added later.

Lifeguards working hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm. Weekend from June 7 to June 17. June 18 to August 23 - Seven days a week 10:00am to 5:00pm. A lifeguard will not work 7 days a week but the Town Beach is open.
