Fairfax Algebra Days 2024

Fairfax Algebra Days (FAD) is a two-day commutative algebra conference hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, VA on March 9-10, 2024. It is sponsored by the NSF and the Department of Mathematical Sciences at George Mason University.

FAD is a follow up to Morgantown Algebra Days, MAD, which started running in 2019 to promote interaction among faculty, post docs, and graduate students in commutative algebra in the Mid-Atlantic and East North Central states. The first meeting united faculty and students from a variety of institutions for inspiring talks and poster presentations.

As in 2019 and 2023, the primary objective of the conference is to expose new mathematical ideas to a large group of mathematicians specializing in the subject of in commutative algebra and related disciplines.

The conference will take place at George Mason University's Fairfax campus. An NSF grant will provide lodging for at most two nights for as many participants as possible, as well as funding to carpool to the conference. Priority in funding will be given to participants who have no other federal support and participants who are graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, or members of groups that are under-represented in the mathematical sciences.
