Professionalism in the culinary field is the first step on the path to a career in the food industry. The food service industry is large and diverse and there are many opportunities as well as challenges in the field. Before one begins a path in culinary arts they will need to spend some time learning about the food service industry as well as the fundamentals such as sanitation and how to handle knives and equipment. It can be very gratify to create a dish that is pleasing to they eye and prepared well enough for a palate. This site has the mission to provide an introduction to the culinary field. This site is a work in progress and will be updated for the benefit of spreading the great art of cooking and baking.
It takes a team to create culinary art! Family consumer science high school teachers participated in the ProStart Culinary Training. Educators from Alabama, South Carolina, Minnesota, Iowa, and Kansas spent summer training that was action-packed and full of culinary learning along side talented chef-instructors. It was an opportunity for us to take our cooking skills to a whole new level. We were the students once again challenging ourselves to prepare and present well thought out skilled dishes worthy of satisfying taste.
