Places to Learn

Three Cranes Grove

My "spiritual home." I have been a member for over ten years, met some awesome people, and learned the true meaning of serving the community and the kindreds.

Ar nDriaocht Fein

The international druid church of which Three Cranes Grove is a part. ADF is pan-Indo-European in focus. Many, many good study programs and a clergy training program.

The Troth

A Heathen organization with lore program, clergy program, and many fine people.

Places to go

These are things I have actually been to, so I can comment on them. I could go on and on about what I love about them, so drop me a line if you want to know more. I'm trying to keep it short!

Wisteria

Nestled near Athens and Wayne National Forest in Southeastern Ohio, Wisteria is reclaimed strip mining owned by Pagans. They have their own homesteads, a nature preserve, and a campground that encourages ecological camping practices. They host several festivals a year (although you can go just to camp out) AND are the site for:

I went for the first time in 2013. One of the big famous festivals right in my own backyard, how could I not? Art, music, a little mayhem, a little mind expansion, midnight rituals, workshops, and lots of cool vendors. (Yes, including us!) Also a wonderfully large bonfire on Saturday night.

Brushwood Folklore Center

Located just outside of Erie, Pennsylvania in Western New York, a large festival site with showers, flushies, pool, hot tub, and several sacred sites scattered throughout the land. Known for what I like to call "arbitrary and capricious weather," so pack for all four seasons no matter what time of year. You can go just to camp out. Brushwood is host to:

  • Sirius Rising

A pan-Pagan festival. Workshops, music, vendors and a community effort and building unity through common themes through they day and nightly rituals that follow a theme that culminates into the final bonfire.

Earth Warriors Festival

Hosted by the fine folks at Violet Flame Gifts, this is a festival with a purpose. One common thread of all neo-Paganism is our reverence for the Earth, our mother, and this festival reminds us that walking the walk is just as important as talking the talk.

Trothmoot

The annual meeting of The Troth. The location varies from year to year, in order to try and accommodate all members. Eventually, one will be near you. If you have never stood in sumble or blot with about 100 other Heathens and shared a horn with them, you need to go when it comes to your region.

Convocation

Not all festivals and gatherings involve tents and weather. At this "pagan convention" in Dearborn, Michigan, pagans, heathens, and new age folk take over a hotel. All of the learning and fellowship of a camping festival, but with actual beds, running water, and hot showers. My first was in 2013, and I really loved it. I plan on going back as often as possible!

Places to shop:

We are blessed in Central Ohio to have so many great places that live cooperatively in the same geographic vicinity.

The Magical Druid

My home store! A nice balance of commercially available supplies and items and artwork by local and regional artistic pagans we know. A store to support other pagans in their crafts, so please consider that whole 'act locally' thing. Centrally located in Clintonville.

Enchanted Elements

Another store that sponsors psychic fairs both at their location and in the Short North at the Raven in the Greystone Building on Gallery Hop nights.

Violet Flame Gifts

Pagan store in Newark. Good workshops, excellent handmade lotions, soap, and massage oils, and Ground Zero for the Earth Warrior's Festival held in late September.

Blessed Be Spiritual Shop

Some good folks in Grove City! Lots of cool witchy things.

Pearls of Wisdom

A little new-agey for many, but hey, sometimes you just got to have the big shiny!! Also some good folks!

Pure Joy Massage and Yoga

Joy provides a number of services for balance, relaxation, cleansing, and healing. Workshops too, and yoga especially for new and full moon!
