The citizens of Walker and the surrounding area now have their own Veterans Memorial. A Dedication Ceremony was held on July 28, 2012, culminating an 18 month effort by the community and surrounding area. The dedication ceremony was covered by several local news media. Thanks to the efforts of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation - Linn County Fund, we have been able to purchase a third stone in 2013. The names of 86 Civil War , Spanish American War, and World War I veterans that have no known survivors have been added to the memorial. This completes the capital expenditures phase of the program.
