Design

The monument is built on a 40’ diameter textured, red, concrete base with a 18”H brick retaining wall around half of the base. The memorial consists of a large central obelisk, or pillar bearing the names of area soliders who were killed in action, and three smaller stones inscribed with the names those who served. There are also flags from all branches of the military flying, as well as an American, an Iowa and a POW/MIA flag. It also has two black stone benches.
