Range Repeats as Clash Champs, Oct 3, 2021!
The Top-6 teams from the Range Bassmasters, Baxter Bass Snatchers, and Brainerd Lakes Bass Club met on Serpent Lake, October 3, for the annual Clash. After a rainy day on Rabbit, the Range Team enjoyed a warming and sunny day on Serpent Lake. The members basked in the sun, with the 6 anglers bringing in 80 pounds, 14 ounces, topping Brainerd Lakes by almost 20 pounds and Baxter by a margin of 21.5, well done, fellers!
The team was led by Brian Smude who took second with 15-4 (6-fish limit), followed by Emmet in 3rd with 14-8. The other six members also scored well: Bryan Jones, 13-11, Steve Quinn 13-1, Billy 12-11, and Ashten 11-11. So Steve Q presented the huge 4.5-foot trophy to Brian to have and to hold for the whole year, congratulations!
Fellow Range member, Chuck Steinbauer, won the tournament with 15-11, but made the questionable decision to represent the Baxter ‘Snatchers. Chuck also collared the lunker of 3-8, walking off with the big bucks, congratulations, Chuck! He fished both deeper vegetation and the lake’s many docks, a good number of which had already been removed for winter. For future records, this lake selection was by Baxter, so next year falls to Brainerd Lakes. Good choice, indeed!
It’s all over but the shoutin’ so enjoy your hunting and fall fishing and all other activities. See ya’ll when we can arrange a Range Banquet of some sort!
