Music Olympics 2016
Almost two hundred students from the Gig Harbor area's piano studios competed together in nine areas of musical expertise (Scales, Arpeggios, Chords and Cadences, Ear Training, Speedy Notes and Intervals, Rhythm, Theory, Sight Reading, and Performance).
Congrats to the nine of my students who competed and earned a plethora of blue ribbons in this years Music Olympics! They accurately represented the hard (and smart) work you guys put into preparing for this event over the last few months, and your faithful practice all year. Special Congratulations to Gabriel Nelson for third place in total points score (scores in all nine categories added up) in Novice, and to Grace Atencio for receiving second place total points score in the Primary B level.
Spring Recital 2016
This year's spring recital was a more exciting adventure than usual, caused by a power outage that lasted throughout all the performances. Despite the unforeseen circumstances, every student still came and played their pieces beautifully to the light of many candles and a few flashlights.
Adjudications 2016
This was our studio's first year to participate in Adjudications, and we will definitely be doing it again! Thank you all for your teachable attitudes. The adjudicator enjoyed working with you all. A special congratulations goes to Maxwell Eddy for being selected to represent our studio in the Gig Harbor Music Teachers' Association Honors Recital!
Music Olympics 2015
Good job to everyone from my studio who participated in this great event! Only having a couple months to prepare for tests on nine categories of musical proficiency is a daunting task. I am so thankful for six of my students who took the challenge and want to point out that, even though some of you were not as prepared for all the categories as you would have liked to be, you worked really hard and I did not have a single student who signed up back out of the Olympics.
I respect you all so much for the courage and perseverance you demonstrated, and I can't wait to see what you will impress me with next year!
Chaya Thomas with her first place trophy!
