Application of deep learning and natural language processing techniques to model patient risk and community interventions in the healthcare domain.

  • June 2014 – August 2014, Research intern, Edmodo, San Mateo, CA, USA.

    • Developed a library for modeling the user posts on edmodo.com, and recommending educational resources to teachers and students. I also designed algorithms to perform incremental topic modeling.

    • July 2008 – July 2010, System Engineer in Yahoo! SDC, Bangalore, India

      • As a part of the Content Platforms Operations team in Yahoo!, my responsibilities include monitoring and ensuring 100% content availability for Yahoo! Websites. My major contribution to the team was an automated data consolidation and retrieval tool which enables easier monitoring and management of tasks for the team.

    • November 2007 – February 2008 – Intern in Ampelion Networks, Bangalore, India

      • I worked as an intern in Ampelion Networks, a startup based in Bangalore, on the recommendation of Prof. M. Narasimha Murty during the 3rd semester of my M.E. I was responsible for the design and development of a ringtone recommendation system for mobile phone users. During the internship period, I worked on various latent variable learning models like Latent Semantic Indexing, Probabilistic Latent Semantic Indexing and Latent Dirichlet Allocation and developed similar algorithms suitable to the problem domain. This experience enabled me to use and enhance my knowledge and experience in several machine learning techniques

    • February 2006 – June 2006, Intern in Sun Microsystems, Bangalore, India

      • I worked with the Product Quality Engineering Team on their Web Server and Web Proxy Server projects. My main responsibility was internationalizing the user interfaces of these products.

Training

  • April 2005 – October 2005, Training by ThoughtWorks, Bangalore, India.

Based on my academic performance, I was one among the 20 students selected out of 120 students for a training programme conducted by ThoughtWorks, India. The training was based on Extreme and Agile Programming, and dealt with some of the best coding practices followed in the industry.

  • September 2005 – December 2005, Training by Hewlett Packard, Bangalore, India

This training programme dealt with some of the advanced concepts in UNIX such as memory management, process management, etc. It also touched upon some of the major features of HP-UNIX.
