Radha Chitta
I am a research scientist in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Pattern Recognition. I have worked on several interesting and challenging problems in the areas of image processing, text mining, and natural language processing, in health and legal tech domains. I truly believe that a good use of Artificial Intelligence will allow us humans to collectively realize our true potential, by not having to worry about routine mundane tasks. Each time I make a contribution to the world of AI, I believe I help in getting us closer to this goal.
I completed my Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Science in PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore under Visveswaraiah Technological University. After B.E. I pursued my Masters in the System Science and Automation group in the Electrical Engineering Department of the Indian Institute of Science. I worked with Prof. M. Narasimha Murty on designing support vector machines with linear time running complexity, to reduce both the training time and testing time, and applied it to perform text mining. I then worked as a Systems Engineer in Yahoo! in Bangalore (from 2008-2010).
I obtained my PhD from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in Michigan State University, working under the supervision of Prof. Anil Jain. I then worked at Xerox as a Research Scientist, where I was involved in developing intelligent techniques to predict the risk of patients developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, and analyzing how preemptive measures would affect patient populations. Following this, I worked at Kira Systems, where I applied NLP and ML techniques to different problems such as question answering, document linking and object recogntion.
I currently work at Zuva Inc ( a spin-off from Kira post its acquisition by Litera), Toronto as a Machine Learning Research Scientist. I focus on applying deep learning and natural language processing techniques for contract analysis.
