About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State. Prior to joining Penn State, l was a postdoc research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital Insitute for Technology Assessment (MGH-ITA) and Harvard Medical School, working with my mentor Dr. Jagpreet Chhatwal. I received my PhD degree in Operations Research from the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology in 2016 (with my PhD advisor Dr. Turgay Ayer) , and my bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2010.

Research Interests

My research has primarily focused on analytics and decision-making modeling in healthcare. I am interested in using mathematical modeling and operations research methods, including stochastic dynamic modeling and simulation, integrated with real-world healthcare data, to inform clinical decision and policy makings in broad healthcare settings. I really enjoy working (and chatting) with health practitioners, health policymakers, and researchers from other healthcare disciplines such as clinical science, public health, health economics, and social sciences, and seeing different views on healthcare issues from them. I am currently working with several multidisciplinary research projects, in which we are trying to utilize analytics and modeling tools to tackle the challenges in the management of chronic diseases, behavioral and mental health, substance use, and epidemic prevention and control.
