Tranquility and Intuition
—To Charles Wright
sense of stillness lies between heartbeats
ancient keeper of secrets
memories kept warm lives remembered
visions behind eyes glimmer
recall life well-lived
timeless call of watchers
holy prophets
repentant and reverent
intuition’s whisper of past lives
intuition holds no claim
of eternity no shortcut to the sky
I hold one life and many
dog at my feet is pleased with my presence
one witness can claim
split of heaven and earth
with a single hair
call of something sublime
something so great
soft whispers of tranquility
after travels found hard
culminations of life’s work
shadows grow long
I walk alone
voice says
don’t brood
don’t dwell in past visions
say no regrets
whispers call my name
