LOCAL CHAPTER HISTORY
The Zeta Chapter Alumnae Association was co-founded by Kimberly (Parker) Schlauch [Gamma] and Pamela Barrett [Delta] of the University of Pittsburgh in January 2004 and was officially recognized as an Association at the National Convention in February 2004.
Our purpose is to facilitate communication with Zeta chapter alumnae and honorary members. We encourage alumnae to stay involved by participating in activites. All activities are suggested and organized by volunteers and participation is voluntary.
All sisters of the Zeta chapter automatically become members of the Association upon alumnae status and are encouraged to continue and strengthen their bonds of sisterhood throughout their lifetimes. We also formed in order to offer support and advice to the active chapter and to assist the National Council in any way possible.
Alumnae are the future of this Sisterhood. No matter what your status, we hope you'll join us in making it a success.
OUR MISSION & VISION
Phi Sigma Rho is a social sorority for women in engineering and engineering technology. Through Phi Sigma Rho, our sisters develop the highest standard of personal integrity, strive for academic excellence and build friendships that will last a lifetime.
OUR NATIONAL HISTORY
Phi Sigma Rho was founded in 1984 by Abby McDonald and Rashmi Khanna at Purdue University. Abby and Rashmi were unable to participate in traditional sorority rushes due to the demands of their engineering program, so they decided to start their own sorority instead. The Alpha chapter was founded with ten members. In the years since, Phi Sigma Rho has grown to thirty chapters from coast to coast.
