The project started in Autumn 2015 as a collaboration between six North and East London local authority consultants and independent consultants working within those areas. It has since expanded to include . . .
Schools from each of the LAs were invited to be involved in working alongside the consultants to plan and produce exemplification of sequences of learning for core science content.
In the year from 2015/16 the group of consultants and teachers met together on three occasions to develop their ways of working and producing the materials, so that the units produced to date have a degree of consistency.
A robust approach was also developed to moderating the units of work produced, so that when they are published they can be used with confidence that they do show mastery of the science content.
It is intended that the first draft units of exemplification will be launched on the ASE website in Autumn 2016, including at least one unit per year group.
The PSAG will continue to work with schools to produce exemplification for each and every unit of work within the science content for each year group, with some units being shown from two different schools to indicate different ways in which content can be secured.
