NYC High Schools USED to have lists of songs that they suggested students choose from. After years of complaints, the schools dropped the lists. However, I suggest that you look at this list and see if you like any of these tunes. In my experience, students who audition singing their favorite POP song DO NOT GET INTO THESE HIGH SCHOOLS. There are exceptions, of course, but you should be smart and strategic.
Go down the list, look up recordings of these songs on YouTube, look up lyrics, and find a song that you want to learn. This list is a compilation of the former lists from LaGuardia H.S., Frank Sinatra, and Edward R. Murrow high schools.
