This course is an elective course offered by Department of Aerospace Engineering for those who are interested MOST RECENT DEVELOPMENTS OF GAS TURBINE TECHNOLOGIES.
This course is design based upon fundamental understanding of basics of Thermodynamics, Jet Propulsion and Gas Dynamics that students have learnt in previous year courses and aims to give the students about the most recent developments in gas turbine technologies both in terms of Aircraft/Aerospace and Land based power plants one step ahead.
The fastest growing and very competitive domain of engineering is AeroEngines. Technologies changes everyday as the expectations and targets for the applications changes rapidly due to global competitive market, Government rules and regulation, Noise, Pollution controls... Movement towards GREEN TECHNOLOGY.
Knowledge of Advancements in Gas Turbine Engines, would make the future graduates more employable at govt. organizations like Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Army, DRDO, ISRO, NAL,HAL,GTRE and companies such as GE, P&W, R&R, Siemens, MHI etc. and are in need of graduates trained in the subject. Though, the present course is proposed to induct in the academic curriculum of Aerospace Engineering. But, it can be floated as an open elective so that the students of other Mechanical sciences department also can credit the course. The proposed syllabus covers a wide spectrum of topics from basics to an advanced level. The course has an optimized lecture schedule covering all the essential topics.
The course has unique feature of PROJECT Based learning where freedom is given to the students to explore their creativity for new strategies for gas turbine engines, performance enhancements with fundamental understanding, Future gas turbine cycle engines etc....
