My research on L2 literacy development and learning is mostly based on situation models of reading comprehension which has been developed by researchers in the area of discourse processes. Also, the theoretical and pedagogical bases of L2 literacy learning and development in an EFL context has influenced a lot on how I have examined L2 reading and learning. Furthermore, socio-cultural background and book and literacy history in a society has been also an additional intellectual backbone with which I attempt to examine L1 and L2 reading practices inside and outside the classroom.
