Welcome to the English command.dat homepage. The command.dat is a file that allows you to view, among other things, the individual command lists for your favorite fighting game characters. Say you're playing Street Fighter II and you don't know how to do Ryu's dragon punch move. Or say you have a friend over who has always wanted to try playing as Terry Bogard in King of Fighters 2000, but doesn't know the moves. With the command.dat, you can have an in game instruction manual to essentially every game that MAME supports.

The command.dat doesn't appear out of no where, it is contributed to, and compiled by, MAME fans all over the world. New contributions are ALWAYS welcome, so if you would like to contribute to the project, please consider adding a new game to the file. It's easy to learn how to add a game, simply look at the file in any text browser (like Notepad or Word) and study how previous games have been done. Please test your work in MAME and make sure that it looks the way you want it to, and email your contributions to me.

Which version is right for me?

The longhand version is meant for beginners and people who aren't familiar with many fighting game moves and would like the directions of the moves spelled out. The shorthand version is for more advanced players and experts who would like to know the moves at a quick glance.
