International Painting Competition for Children and Youth

“near or far, WE are all ONE”

Τhe General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Children's Art Gallery of Greece in collaboration with the Greek Section of the International Board on Books for Young People - The Greek Children's Book Circle, are organizing an International Student Painting Competition: “near or far, WE are all ONE”, from 10 April to 5 July 2020

Thousands of children of Greeks abroad, who are out of school due to the restrictive measures taken by countries internationally to prevent the spread of coronavirus, spend their time at home without sharing their friends’ company, but sharing instead a common global reality that shows that near or far we are all one. The competition is an invitation addressed to children of Greeks abroad all over the world to express their feelings, to describe through their art the daily life they are experiencing during this difficult period of humanity, and to display through their artistic creations an auspicious and peaceful future. As the agents of hope and optimism, children are invited to send a universal encouraging message of love, strength and mutual respect.

The educational and artistic projects of the Children's Art Gallery of Greece are designed and implemented with a view to pedagogical feasibility, scientific validity, pedagogical fitness, and aesthetic excellence. More specifically:Emphasis is placed on the pedagogical feasibility of the programs and their contribution to the promotion of the educational process. The programs cover specific and real needs of teachers and pupils as they provide the opportunity for the development of teaching objectives and enhance the enrichment and widening of the curriculum.In addition, the wider relevance of CAGG programs is related to the current institutional framework, their aesthetic excellence, and also issues related to the safety of pupils during their use, as well as their functional suitability.In their entirety, CAGG programs are original and innovative.The main criterion for the selection of the CAGG programs is their relevance / compatibility with the educational process and in particular with respect to the pedagogical principles, the aims and objectives it sets, the content and the educational methodology it provides. At the same time, the programs are assessed on the basis of the validity of the scientific knowledge they carry.It examines whether they display substantive and scientifically valid knowledge, modern and timely. Appropriateness is also considered in relation to the age of the pupils for whom it is intended.All CAGG programs are compatible with the principles of modern education and consistent with the current educational process, displaying knowledge that is essential, modern and scientifically accurate,The CAGG's educational programs are assessed for their aesthetic excellence. The aesthetic form and typographic excellence of the programs is proportional to the pupils' age, potential and needs. The structure and organization of the material make it easier to understand its content.Finally, in terms of their functionality, the CAGG programs identify the prerequisite knowledge and technical conditions for their use. They are accompanied by adequate instructions and the prerequisites for their use are compatible with the pupils' age. They have quality and balance in their individual technical elements (graphics, audio, video, subtitles, structural structure).They foresee the possibility of personalizing their function and results in relation to potentially discrete levels of pupils in the same class. Their use is interactive and provides feedback to the user. All CAGG programs also provide collaborative learning activities.In their entirety, CAGG programs are generally referred to as "user-friendly".
