Woodwinds

UNDER CONSTRUCTION - LOWER PRIORITY THAN BRASSWINDS - FUTURE FOCUS MAINLY ON SAXOPHONES

Due to the numerous misconceptions, speculations, and other discrepancies regarding Conn woodwinds, we have decided to include woodwinds [mainly saxes] on the site, but after the brasswind work is well underway. I believe Conn stopped producing flutes and clarinets in the 1970s, having purchased Artley, which manufactured those. More to come later, and you can get info temporarily from here: http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?158653-Conn-Sax-Serial-number If it helps, the introduction of certain models may coincide with their brass counterparts:

18M - alto sax listed in 1983 pricelist; kind-of coincides with brass 18A/B/H - note that old 18H parts were still being used into the early 1990s

20M - mid or late-1980s to coincide with 20A/B/H

Later models were produced in Nogales, Arizona until the early 2000s, when Conn switched to importing most of its saxes from Taiwan.

Note that the above info is partially based on the forum thread linked above.
