THE WINDOW
She draws his profile
on the dusty pane
his face outlined on glass
steps on the porch
a key in the door
she wipes the image clean.
She says, “Good husbands are hard to find.”
He says, “Good wives look like you. “
He kisses her,
wipes the window again and says,
“The blot is gone, it’s off.”
