Welcome to PEEL lab @IIT Bombay

We @ Plastic Electronics and Energy Lab(PEEL), IIT Bombay, carry out experimental and fundamental research on Flexible and Stretchable electronics with special focus on Sensors for Internet of Things (IoT), Wearable Biomedical sensors, Thin film transistors and Solar Cells.

What is Flexible and Stretchable electronics?

Flexible and Stretchable electronics is a fast developing research area that has shown high potential to produce cost-effective large area opto-electronic devices such as thin film transistors (TFT), solar-cells, light emitting diodes (LED) and photo-detectors, by using organic, inorganic and hybrid materials. It is very different from the assembly of conventional silicon based electronics and thus can lead to a whole new range of products such as conformable- skin like sensors for medical diagnostics, rollable electronic displays, ultra-efficient lighting, solar energy harvesting, identification tags for consumer goods. The field in itself is highly interdisciplinary and is encompassed by several aspects of material science, electrical engineering, physics and chemistry.

Here are few videos on the products being developed at our Lab using Flexible/Stretchable electronics:
