Chemical and BioSensors

A chemical/biosensor is a sensor that produces an electric signal proportional to the concentration of biochemical analytes. These Chemical and biological sensors are important for many applications such as environmental monitoring, disease diagnostics, food processing, and defence. Chemical and biological sensors based on organic electronics have the potential to provide low cost, lightweight, and reliable sensors. Specially, OFETs/OTFTS are ideal for inexpensive, single-use chemical or biological sensors because of their compatibility with flexible, large-area substrates, simple processing, and highly tunable active layer materials. These flexible sensors can easily be transplanted even inside body.

We at PEEL will be exploring many materials and device designs to realize low cost and flexible chemical and biological sensors than can be used in variety of applications ranging from disease diagnostics, health monitoring, to explosive detection devices to be used by Indian army.
