The virus mutations continue to...well...mutate. The list of zoonotic diseases grow: this time it's not chickens or other birds, but bats! See: Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Australia. Are our days numbered? Of course they are. We just don't know which numbers. For a delightful and informative listing of "zoonotic diseases," go to the Zoonotic Diseases Tutorial, presented by the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

PRESS REVIEW FOR BOOK JACKET COVER - This writer is incredible! K.D.Kragen is gifted in the way he is able to draw the reader inside this medieval bedlam. He has an intimacy with Kierkiev, the male protagonist, and all the characters in this classic tale. I felt transported to the colorful, yet at the same time, bleak 14th century world, to see and sense the devastating plague, to witness barbarians leave their prey stripped of dignity and will. How amazing that love could flourish amidst so much chaos--to see the spark of mystic spirit arise in Kierkive, the "Plagueman." Science fiction or fantasy does not come close to the horror of true, well-drawn and well-researched historical fiction. I'm convinced the author lived in that era-how else could he weave this story? Kragen has an instinctive ability to understand our past and put the correct language and elements into his narrative, to serve up to us the succulent suspension of disbelief. ----Venera Di Bella Barles, author of They Was Holdin' Hands.

FIRST PRE-PRESS REVIEW COMES IN! - "Plagueman is a book you are not able to put down. The descriptions are absolutely amazing. You truly feel what it was like to live in 14th century Italy. With a touch of romance, Plagueman will keep you guessing to the very last page. A wonderful story."

Sincerely, Steve Maloof, Dentist, Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA
