Research
Projects
- RESTASSURED [May 2018 - December 2019]
- The application of state of the art security controls to improve cloud security and privacy. I am working on run-time risk analysis and secure engineering of cloud applications.
- Hub4NGI [May 2018 - December 2018]
- Research strategy and innovation planning for the Next Generation Internet European Commission research unit. I am researching responsible privacy engineering and responsible AI.
- Operando [June 2015 - June 2018]
- A platform that will used by independent Privacy Service Providers (PSPs) to provide comprehensive user privacy enforcement in the form of a dedicated online service, called “Privacy Authority”. I worked on modelling and analysing user-centred privacy models across the development life cycle to identify privacy risks and breaches.
- FIESTA-IoT [Jan 2015 - July 2018]
- Developing a global data-oriented IoT Testbed. I developed and implemented the security architecture of the platform. I also worked on research into model-based interoperability testing of IoT technologies.
- The model-interop tool is available to download and use from https://github.com/fiesta-iot/model-interop
- Fed4FIRE [June 2013 - December 2014]
- A project under the European Union’s Programme Horizon 2020, offering the largest federation worldwide of Next Generation Internet (NGI) testbeds. I worked on the long-term sustainability strategy and business models of the services.
- AmpliFIRE [March 2013 - July 2015]
- Research support action to help guide the Future Internet Research and Experimentation programme (FIRE). I worked on future research visions and strategy, and also led the road-mapping activities for future funding activities in this domain.
- XIFI [March 2013 - July 2015]
- XIFI established a marketplace for test infrastructures and Future Internet services to cope with large trial deployments involving the users as the centre of the innovation process. I developed an interoperability testing service for pre-trial compliance testing.
- Starlink [October 2009 - October 2012 ]
- Starlink was a collaboration with LaBRI, University of Bordeaux investigating the use of domain specific languages to specify interoperability solutions between both middleware and application protocols.
- Connect [February 2009 - February 2013]
- An EU funded FET project investigating future proof interoperability between highly heterogeneous networked systems. Connect embraces machine learning, software synthesis, middleware, and ontologies to dynamically construct interoperability software.
- Open Overlays [Jan 2004 - Jan 2007]
- Collaboration between Lancaster University and Oxford Brookes University. The project explored network and middleware support for distributed collaborative visualisation in the Grid. A key result of the project was the Gridkit middleware platform; this leveraged the novel concept of application-level virtual networks as a core element of modern middleware.
