The Mid-Century style movement is probably the last example of celebrating the "dawn of a new era" in American design.  Forms were bold and simple all at once, taking cues from designers such as Eames and BelGeddes.  Everything from homes to interior fittings were streamlined and re-fashioned in brushed metals or bold colours of the day.  This wide-reaching style is very popular among young adults - seen as "cool" and "edgy" today just as it was 50 years ago.  With the wide selection of ranch-style homes becoming available on the market for the first time, pieces from this era are seeing a popularity like never before - afterall, the 1950s houses of today will one day be as valuable to us as the Victorian rowhouses of yesteryear!
