Pilgrim Horse Trails

In a valley on the Mpumalanga plateau lays the quaint, historical village of Pilgrims Rest. Once a bustling valley filled with gold seekers, now it is home to a small local community sharing natural beauty and history with both local and foreign travelers. On the outskirts of town, embraced by the mountains, lays the vast Ponieskrantz Stables. 

The stableyard, that has been operational for more than 20 years, is well designed, neat and orderly without losing its country charm. It is home to a large number of fine horses, bred and schooled for riding in the surrounding mountains and forests, as well as for drawing one of the numerous wagons and carts. From here you can explore the mountains on foot or horseback, knowing that you can rest the night in comfortable accommodations. Likewise exploring the natural beauty and sights of the region is a short motorcar trip away!

Come for a ride on our home bred horses on the beautiful landscapes of Pilgrim's Rest. With fresh air and vast pine forests. On cold mornings the mist rolls over the mountains and into the valleys bringing a magical feel to the area. The countless river streams slowly wind their way past town and make breathtaking waterfalls in the many indigenous forests.
